Philosophy

At X-treme Lax the player drives the college prep process. Recruiting is a long process and one that requires your commitment. While our staff help guide players through the process, it’s important to recognize that it’s not always the most talented player that finds a collegiate home, but the most motivate player.
We are committed to helping YOU navigate the process. We will give you loads of resources, help you stay on track and invest time and energy in YOUR dreams for you.

While we are here to offer help & guidance, YOU are in charge of YOUR recruiting process.

Recruiting Tips

The recruiting process can be scary and it can be unfair. It is super competitive given how fast the game has grown at the youth and high school levels versus the collegiate level. Lacrosse scholarships are hard to come by, especially because there are only 117 DI schools that sponsor NCAA programs. Just getting recruited to a DI program is difficult, especially now that the process is so advanced. DI college coaches are recruiting high school freshmen. That is a fact. DIII, DII, NAIA and Club Programs offer a great college experience that also includes competitive lacrosse. This process is best when you have guides helping you – parents, coaches and teachers. But, there is no way to “get recruited” by being passive and letting someone else do your work for you. After all, when you get to college, you will be the one in classes, in the dorm, on the field and making friends. MAKE THIS YOUR PROCESS.

1. CREATE YOUR LIST

Using your GPA & Test Scores, you can determine your academic qualifications and make your list based on that.

SAFETY = schools for which you are slightly academically over-qualified

TARGET = schools for which you represent the average student

REACH = schools for which you are slightly academically under-qualified

You want 7-10 schools in each category (21-30 total schools) when beginning your college list.

Things To Consider

  • Location

  • Size of school

  • Academic Programs

  • Cost

  • Social life

Pick a school 1st, team/atmosphere 2nd, coach 3rd

2. PREPARE YOUR MATERIALS

The more prepared you are, the easier it is to get this process going. This process requires that YOU are consistent and efficient. If this is what YOU want, YOU will have to stay on top of it.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE?

  • Recruiting Questionnaires: Make sure you complete each program’s online questionnaire.

  • Introduction e-mail: This represents the first time you contact a coach.

  • Pre/Post event e-mail: Let each coach know which events/showcases/tournaments you will be attending.
